Viridian ArcBox is a solar connector enclosure for enclosing a DC connector within a PV string. It is intended to contain an arc event within the enclosure and is used in solar PV installations where connector protection around combustible materials or higher-consequence areas is required.
Two hinged halves snap around the DC connector for enclosure at the connection point.
Internal lining material is specified to support containment of the connector within the enclosure.
Ports are provided to help maintain operating temperature and reduce moisture accumulation.
The connector sits between cable sealing grommets at each end for cable entry through the enclosure.
Specified for operation in ambient temperatures from -40 to +85 °C.
Solar connector enclosure from Viridian Solar ArcBox series. Overall dimensions are 150 x 50 x 48 mm, with a weight of 410 g. Compatible with cable sizes 4 to 6 mm² and cable outside diameters of 5.4 to 6.4 mm. Maximum DC connector dimensions stated are 110 mm length and 20 mm diameter. Ambient temperature range: -40 to +85 °C.
Place the DC connector into the enclosure with cables laid in the grommet, then snap the casing shut. The enclosure slots onto a mounting bracket. Mounting bracket variants are shown separately in the source data and should be treated as accessories.
